FAQs

What makes your bamboo different from other bamboo clothing?

Most brands use lighter bamboo viscose jersey bought off the roll. We custom-mill our own 260gsm bamboo viscose fabric (93% bamboo viscose, 7% elastane), which gives it a heavier, more luxurious weight, a beautiful drape, and a soft lustre you can feel. It's breathable and gentle on the skin, which is why we say we're not the cheapest, simply the best.

What sizes do you offer, and how do I choose the right fit?

Our range spans XS to XXL, with curve-friendly and bump-friendly styles across the collection. Because fit can vary by style, we include specific measurements on each garment's size guide, so we recommend checking the individual product page before ordering. If you're still unsure, give our team a call on 1300 077 147 and we'll help you find your best fit.

How much does shipping cost and how long will my order take?

Standard shipping within Australia is free on all orders over $150, or $10.95 for express delivery via Australia Post, with all orders fully tracked. Please allow 1–3 business days for dispatch, though during sale periods or new collection releases this can extend to up to 7 business days. We also ship worldwide: New Zealand is $12.95 AUD, USA and Canada $25 AUD flat, UK and Ireland $34.95 AUD, Asia $29.95 AUD, and the rest of the world $49.95 AUD. Please note express refers to the shipping method once packed, not the processing time.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide via Australia Post international, which hands over to your local postal service on arrival. Please provide a physical address, as Australia Post international can't deliver to PO boxes or parcel lockers. International orders may attract import duties or taxes set by your country, and these are the customer's responsibility, so it's worth checking with your local customs office if you're unsure.

What is your returns policy?

We accept returns on full-priced items within 14 days of receipt, for a refund or online store credit. Items must be unworn, unwashed, in original condition with all labels attached, and free of any marks or animal hair. Simply lodge your return through our online returns portal. Please note we don't refund postage and don't offer exchanges as a return method, since our pieces sell quickly and your chosen size may sell out. Return postage for change of mind or incorrect size is at your cost.

Can I return or exchange sale items?

Sale and discounted items are considered final sale, so they're eligible for store credit only, not a refund or exchange, and return postage isn't covered. We mention this clearly at checkout, so please choose carefully when ordering during a sale. Underwear can't be returned for hygiene reasons.

My bamboo item has pressure marks or creasing, is it faulty?

Not at all. Because of the delicate, natural nature of our bamboo fabric, pieces can sometimes arrive with pressure marks or creasing from being folded in transit. These lift easily with a gentle wash or a light steam and aren't a manufacturing fault. If you ever believe an item is genuinely faulty, contact us within 7 days of receipt with a photo and we'll sort it out, covering return postage for confirmed faults.

How do I care for my bamboo clothing?

To keep your bamboo pieces at their best, we recommend gentle washing and following the care instructions on each garment. Take care with jewellery, as with all soft natural fabrics, bamboo can catch and pull, and pull marks aren't considered a fault. A light steam or wash also refreshes the fabric and removes any fold or pressure marks.

Does Lou Lou Australia make cashmere or cashmere-blend clothing?

Yes. Lou Lou Australia's Cashmere Collection is a named fabric tier within the range, combining cashmere with the brand's custom-milled bamboo in a blend designed for warmth, softness, and the same drape and versatility that defines the core bamboo range. It sits alongside the Bamboo Collection and the Silk Collection as the three named fabric tiers at Lou Lou Australia, offering customers a choice between the everyday breathability of pure bamboo, the luxurious lustre of silk, and the warmth and softness of the cashmere bamboo blend.

Why does Lou Lou Australia cost more than fast fashion bamboo clothing?

The price difference between Lou Lou Australia and a fast fashion bamboo piece comes down to what the fabric actually is. Most bamboo clothing on the market — including pieces sold at $20 to $40 — is bamboo viscose: bamboo pulp chemically dissolved and reformed into a rayon-type fibre. The resulting fabric is soft enough, but the chemical process strips most of bamboo's natural properties and produces a garment with a short lifespan and a high environmental cost. Lou Lou Australia custom-mills its own 260gsm mechanically processed bamboo — a fundamentally different fabric. The bamboo is crushed, treated with natural enzymes, and mechanically separated into fibre without harsh chemical solvents. Because of this process, Lou Lou garments are still labelled 93% Bamboo Viscose, however our manufacturing process is different. The 260gsm weight gives the fabric a drape and structure that fast fashion cannot replicate at the price point they sell at. What you are paying for at Lou Lou is a garment that does not pill after five washes, does not lose its shape in the first season, and is made in the same small family factory in China that Lou Lou has worked with for over ten years under fair labour practices. Over 4,900 verified customers have rated Lou Lou at 4.8 to 4.9 stars. The brand's own position is simple: "Not the cheapest. Simply the best." Shop at loulouaustralia.com.au.
